Access to our electronic subscription resources ceases after graduation, as our licence agreements with publishers stipulate. Without knowing more detail I can't explain why it has taken so long in your particular case.
However, if you register as a JCU Alumni you do get free access to the Proquest databases (and Going Global).
Another option for you is to take advantage of the increasing number of academic open access resources, for example

Even Google Scholar will often provide links to free full text content.
