When I install EndNote, do I need to set up an account and password?

If you are an EndNote user, you may have seen a notice that Clarivate/EndNote will soon require you to change your password on a regular basis.
Do I need a password to use EndNote?
To download and use the Desktop version of EndNote, you do not need to create an account with EndNote.
Simply go the JCU EndNote Guide, click on the link to download the program, and sign in to our IT page using your JCU username and password (make sure you read the instructions about installing the program that are on the Guide).
When would I need an EndNote account?
You will need an account with EndNote in order to use EndNote Online/EndNote Web, and any features of the Desktop program that require a connection to EndNote Online.
Online functionality includes syncing your Desktop library to your EndNote Online/Web library for web access and cloud storage, and using the collaboration features in EndNote to share groups with colleagues.
While it currently isn't necessary to have an EndNote account to use the Desktop version of EndNote, it is highly recommended.
(N.B.: do not use the same email address and password combo you use to log into JCU systems. EndNote does not belong to JCU).
