Procedure

  1. Copy the URL of the item you are linking to
  2. Paste it into the top box of this URL Encoder
  3. Click the 'Encode' button
  4. Click 'Copy to cllpboard' in the result box.
  5. Paste onto the end of this

    https://auth.elsevier.com/ShibAuth/institutionLogin?entityID=https%3A%2F%2Fidp.jcu.edu.au%2Fentity&appReturnURL=

  6. The resulting URL will link directly to the content and force use to authenticate through JCU's Identity Provider, i.e.:

    https://auth.elsevier.com/ShibAuth/institutionLogin?entityID=https%3A%2F%2Fidp.jcu.edu.au%2Fentity&appReturnURL=WhatYouCopiedToClipBoardFromTheEncoder

  7. Test in an incognito or private window. If you get an error from Elsevier will almost certainly be due to issue with the encoding or syntax - just make sure you have followed the above steps. Contact us if it's not working for you.
