JCU Open eBooks supports the creation of high-quality open educational resources (OERs) that align with JCU’s strategic priorities in learning and teaching (primary focus), research support, and engagement with place and community.

JCU Open eBooks welcomes new project applications. Our author with us guide outlines:

  • Potential benefits of authoring an ebook
  • Services provided by JCU Open eBooks
  • How to submit an expression of interest (EOI)
  • What to expect when authoring an ebook

Before applying, please ensure your project meets the eligibility criteria, including:

  • The lead author must be a JCU staff member with an ongoing contract for the duration of the ebook project (adjunct staff are eligible).
  • The proposed project will contribute to JCU’s strategic priorities for learning and teaching (primary focus for JCU Open eBooks), research support, or place and community.
  • Developed learning and teaching resources will be used in specified JCU subjects or courses.

We strongly recommend reviewing our EOI evaluation rubric [PDF] and discussing your project with the JCU Open eBooks team before submitting an EOI.

Alternatively, consult with JCU Library experts to help you identify suitable OERs for adoption (use), or explore other zero-textbook-cost options as alternatives to commercial textbooks for JCU subjects.
