I want to use the in-built Citations & Bibliography tool in Word, but the styles available are very out of date. What can I do?

Microsoft Word has not updated the styles available in the Citations & Bibliography tool for some time.
Members of the community have created a new APA 7th style that can be downloaded into the back-end of Word, which seems to work reasonably well – however, you should always check the work produced by a style generator for accuracy and never submit work without checking the references.
Keep in mind, the Word Citations & Bibliography tool is not an effective citation manager and is not being actively maintained by Microsoft. We recommend using EndNote or one of the other style managers available (such as Mendeley, Zotero, etc). JCU has a subscription for EndNote that is available to staff and students, Mendeley and Zotero are both free (but have limited storage).
It is important to remember that all computer generated citations are prone to inaccuracies, and you should be familiar enough with the style to be able to pick up any mistakes with the output generated by the software.
