We welcome U3A students to use our libraries and our resources, however there are licensing restrictions that may limit your access to some electronic resources. Due to this U3A students cannot access Reading Lists.

Library staff are happy to print or email to you a copy of the list of readings for the subject you are studying, although we are unable to provide a full copy of each item in the list.

There are a number of ways that U3A students may be able to access some or all of the resources in their Readings List:

  • Walk-in access to the Internet and electronic resources will be provided on dedicated computers, subject to licence conditions (please note, some databases are restricted to JCU staff and students and will not be available for walk-in access). Please see staff.
  • Some of the resources on Reading Lists may be Open Access which means that anyone can access them from anywhere including via One Search on the Library web site.
  • Books can be read in the library for free without a membership.
  • If you want to borrow books you may take out a community membership
  • Library staff can assist you in finding resources.
