Q. Why won't EndNote finish installing on Windows?

Once you have downloaded the EndNote installation file from the Library guide, you need to extract the file and then install it:

1. Click on the Download EndNote link on the JCU EndNote guide
2. In your Downloads folder double click on Endnote20.exe

• if a black window appears leave it open as it will automatically close when the program is installed.

3. Go to the EndNote application folder on your computer and click on EndNote.exe
  - On a Windows computer this will probably be C > Program Files (x86) > EndNote 20 > EndNote.exe 

If you have closed all Office programs but are still getting errors that the Installation wizard cannot continue because Microsoft Office products are running you will need to use the Task Manager to ensure that the programs are not still running processes in the background.

1. Press CTRL + ALT + Delete  and choose Task Manager.
2. Go to the Processes tab 
3. Scroll down to Background Processes
4. Locate any programs running that have Microsoft Office in the title (particularly Word, PowerPoint and Outlook programs)
5. Highlight the program and choose the End task button at the bottom.
6. Retry the EndNote installation process.
