You only need to reference chapters in edited books.  This means that the chapters are written by different authors and there are one or more editors for the whole book.

Follow the examples on the APA Guide as there is a different format for print books, ebooks, and custom books.

If you use three different chapters, each chapter counts as a separate source and must be listed in your Reference List.  Information you need for a chapter will include

  • The author(s) of the chapter
  • The title of the chapter
  • The editor(s) of the book
  • The page numbers for the chapter (complete range - e.g., 25-39)
