Closing down the browser or tab, or a period of inactivity will automatically disable remote access. However it is also possible to actively log off.

More Detail

If the URL for a page has elibrary.jcu.edu.au in it your requests are being handled by our instance of EZproxy. If your session has timed out you will be prompted to login to remote access again (for example if you've bookmarked a link containing elibrary.jcu.edu.au). If you choose not to you have ended the session.

If you open a new tab or window to a URL that does not contain elibrary.jcu.edu.au that tab will not use remote access (it is possible to use remote access on one tab and not on another simultaneously if required).

You would do this in the case of an open access resource that has been EZproxied. This can happen if a subscription database links to an open access resource.

When a database tries to link you to an open access resource via remote access (EZproxy) you will see this error:

To allow [URL] to be used in a starting point URL, your EZproxy administrator must first authorize the hostname of this URL in the config.txt file.

Simply deleting the elibrary.jcu.edu.au part of the URL and hitting enter will take you to the resource outside of EZproxy.
